"County Lines"

Dear Parents/Carers,

I wanted to make you aware that this week all students have had an assembly delivered by PC Green, local Community Engagement Officer.  He has talked to students about the importance of staying safe, and supporting each other, to stay safe on line and in person.  In particular PC Green talked about the current concern and risk with regard to County Lines.  This talk is part of our constant safeguarding of young people in our care.  County Lines refers to how children as young as seven are being put in danger by criminals who are taking advantage of their innocence and inexperience, using them to traffic drugs.  Any child can be exploited, no matter their background.

It is important that despite the generally safe environment in which we live that we are not blasé to the dangers that are around us and how easily young people might be exploited. PC Green explained that there are already known County Lines gangs operating in Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and Lowestoft.

Please find attached a copy of the two videos that were shared with students during the talk. The assembly took place on Tuesday for Year 10 and today for Year 7, 8 and 9.

Yours sincerely

Miss J Upton
