YEAR 10 AND 11 ONLY
An introduction to business by looking at business opportunities, enterprise, putting business ideas into practice and understanding the economy. Students will have the opportunity of meeting entrepreneurs, and talking to them about challenges they have faced setting up their own businesses.
Investigating business. This is a controlled assessment research task where students investigate the running of a small local business. There are a variety of titles to choose from and each student will have the opportunity to pick a title which is of particular interest to them. (25%)
Building a business which includes marketing, consumer needs, financial management, people management and how the wider world affects businesses.
The units will also consider the extent business and economic activity can be ethical and sustainable. We will visit businesses to allow students to apply their learning.
For Units 1 and 3 you will take an examination. Unit 1 exam is 25% and Unit 3 50% . Unit 2 is controlled assessment and you will research a task then write it up in the classroom (25%)
