WORD of the week

Deviance - Being different in moral standards (than normal).

Welcome to Debenham High SchooL

Message from the Headteacher

Monday 18 September 2017

We are very excited this week as we open the door to our newly refurbished Food Technology room.  It has been 25 years since the room had a facelift – a testament to the care and respect that students have taken.  With a few delays in the holiday, students and Mrs Turner have been very patient as the work was finished last week.  I am sure that students will continue to be inspired and enthused by food in the new room.

This week we welcome our Year 7 parents and carers, as they join us for an information evening where we share how we wish to work with young people and with home to ensure they achieve their best. This evening is also an opportunity to meet the form tutor, a key person in each students’ school life.

It was lovely to see so many Year 10 parents and carers last week at their information evening, as students embark on their GCSE pathway.  If you missed the event, or wished to make a note of anything mentioned, please click here for a copy of the slides and as stressed on the evening, don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any concerns.

It is the turn of Year 10 artists this week, as they head out on a study trip on Thursday to focus on urban landscapes.

On Friday, Year 7 students will experience Puzzle Day.  This day, led by the Mathematics department and a host of Year 10 students, will see Year 7 students work in teams on a range of mind-bending, engaging puzzles and games.

On Wednesday lunchtime we welcome Reverend Bates, who will be coming to the school on a regular basis to chat with students and get to know our school.

Finally, if you are considering us for a Year 6 daughter or son, please look here, for information on our liaison programme.  We will welcome parents and carers on our Open Evening on Thursday 5 October, but you may see the school in action at any time, just contact Mrs Norman in the school office.
