Award for Debenham High School for the third year in succession ..........

Whilst in the throws of the 2017 Examination Season, Debenham High School has received a national accolade for the examination results in students in 2016. Debenham High School has, for the third year in succession, been recognised for being in the top percentiles of GCSE performance in the Country. The Schools, Students and Teachers network (SSAT), a national organisation that links together schools across the country, has awarded Debenham High School two accolades, one for attainment and one for progress.

Sue Williamson, Director of SSAT, who visited the school in 2016 said “ It’s my great pleasure to commend Debenham High School on their excellent 2016 performance, and to have the opportunity to highlight and share their great work. We know how hard that teachers work to ensure the success of every child. SSAT Educational Outcomes award recognises the professionalism, commitment and hard work of the leaders, teachers and students at Debenham High School.

Year 11 students have been tackling their GCSE examinations with dedication and many students have now completed their exams and have been able to enjoy the weekend sunshine.  Around half of them still have some examinations this week, with the last and most challenging of the Triple Science papers. Good luck to all those still studying and well done to those who finished on Friday.

This week Year 8 students get out and about on their Geography fieldtrip as they explore their subject in action.

On Monday afternoon we welcome some of our future Year 7 students as those who are joining us from beyond catchment or from small primaries take part in an afternoon of activities to get to know the school and each other better.

Make a note in your diary, as this week we enter in earnest into our preparations for Sports Day and our Summer Production. Parents and carers are welcome to join us on Sports Day, planned for Wednesday 28 June, please click on the links for further information on the schedule for the day and opportunity to indulge in the BBQ lunch. On Friday 7 and Saturday 8 July, we have our summer drama and music production, once more in the beautiful setting of Crow’s Hall. This year our chosen play for the Bard in the barn is The Tempest and students are rehearsing with increasing intensity as we approach this date.
