Teacher of Science - MPR (Part-time or Full-time)

Science is a strength at Debenham High School, with a strong team of specialist staff. Approximately 70% of students take three separate science GCSEs and the remainder a double award. In 2016 100% of grades in Biology were A*-C, 97% in Chemistry and 91% in Physics. In Core and Applied these were 65% and 68% Progress made by students in Science was in the top 10% in the country.  An ability to teach Chemistry or Physics would be preferable.

Main, or Upper Pay Range as appropriate, plus TLR 2

Mathematics is a strength at Debenham High School, with a strong team of specialist staff. In 2016 86% of pupils achieved A*-C grade in Maths and 42% A*/A grade. The results were in the top 10% in the country for progress. Opportunities for outreach work with other schools locally and a range of professional development opportunities are available as part of our Teaching School status.

We are eager to appoint someone who can lead the development of Key Stage 3 Mathematics, in response to the changes in both the GCSE and Primary curriculum.

Graduate Internship

30 hours per week, 39 weeks (term time + 1 week), from September 2017, fixed term for one year. Point 6 £13,750 Pro rata, actual £9,463.24.

Mid Suffolk Teaching School Alliance wish to appoint graduates who are looking for experience in education in order to make a successful application for further training e.g. teachers or educational psychologists.

Placement schools include: Debenham High School, Farlingaye High School, Kesgrave High School, schools of the John Milton Academy Trust (secondary and primary) and Helmingham Primary School.

The post is an annual fixed contract ending 31 August 2018.
